Top Major League Baseball teams of the past decade: No.'s 30-26

For the next three weeks, we will rank every Major League Baseball team from No. 30, all the way to No. one in terms of their success in the last ten years (2002-2011). In this installment, we start with No. 30

#30, Kansas City Royals

Achievements from 2002-2011:

668 wins

No 90 + win seasons

No Wild Card berths

No Division championships

No League championships

No World Series championships

The Royals have struggled to keep many of the young talents they have drafted. Baseball fans in K.C. are yearning for a winning club.

#29, Pittsburgh Pirates

 Achievements from 2002-2011:

679 wins

No 90 + win seasons

No Wild Card berths

No Division championships

No League championships

No World Series championships

Much like the Royals, the Pirates have struggled to compete due to ownership not spending money. They were in the playoff hunt much of last season before collapsing down the stretch.

#28, Baltimore Orioles

Achievements from 2002-2011:

696 wins

No 90 + win seasons

No Wild Card berths

No Division championships

No League championships

No World Series championships

The Orioles have had the misfortune of playing in the A.L. East. Combine that with the fact they have not had a true superstar in the last ten years and one can see why they check in at this spot.

#27, Montreal Expos/Washington Nationals

Achievements from 2002-2011:

725 wins

No 90 + win seasons

No Wild Card berths

No Division championships

No League championships

No World Series championships

The Nationals (and the Expos before that) have played in a very competitive division and lack of commitment from ownership has hurt their chances at making it to the postseason.

#26, Seattle Mariners

Achievements from 2002-2011:

758 wins

Two 90 + win seasons (2002, 2003)

No Wild Card berths

No Division championships

No League championships

No World Series championships

The Mariners last made the playoffs 11 years ago (2001), which doesn’t qualify for this list. With the Angles and Rangers looking very strong the A.L. West, it doesn’t seem like that will change for a while.
