Top Hooker TV series: New Animal Planet show focuses on 'fishy' challenges

The new Top Hooker TV series is coming soon. While at first glance the title may appear to be an HBO or even Playboy channel series, it is actually going to be part of Animal Planet. And it will feature people who catch fish, rather than prostitutes.

A report on Jan. 30 from Associated Press via WSLS-TV ABC 7 News indicates the new show will arrive this summer. While the show won't involve prostitutes, it does sound like it has some potential for crazy situations involving the use of the body. The series will involve a competition amongst expert fishers who will be doing unusual challenges using strange tools for the tasks. For example, one challenge will have them trying to catch fish while blindfolded and then net the fish with their mouth.

Animal Planet put out an official press release earlier on Jan. 30 indicating that "Top Hooker" will join two other new shows, "Money Barn" and "Swamp'd." Animal Planet says of the fishing competition show:

"TOP HOOKER is an in-your-face, full-throttle competition series that splits 10 expert fishers into two teams and pits them head-to-head in a series of wild, never-before-seen fishing challenges. Traveling across California to some of the most remote and most popular fishing holes, competitors struggle through eight hard weeks on the road and 24 off-the-hook challenges - all for just one shot at being crowned TOP HOOKER."

The new series is slated for eight episodes on Animal Planet and is based out of California, focusing mainly on fishing spots in the state. Roanoke viewers will be able to watch the series on Cox Cable channel 40.
