'Top Gear' series 18 set for BBC Two premiere

Gearheads and petrolheads of the world, get ready. Top Gear, the popular car show which airs on BBC Two television, is set to premiere its 18th series on January 29th.

The immensely popular series, debuted (in its current form) in 2002 and features presenters: Jeremy Clarkson, James May, Richard Hammond and the ever entertaining "the Stig" in a humorous, creative exploration of cars, motor sports and the car industry. While Top Gear is a "car show" it is incredibly accessible, providing fun viewing for everyone (even if you don't get cars).

According to BBC Two, the 18th series will "(start) at the incredible Nardo test track, a facility so massive it is visible from space, before heading north for a nerve-wracking drive around the centre of Rome. The journey concludes at the legendary Imola circuit....with a timed challenge against the incredible skills of the Stig."

While the current series will only be available on BBC Two, there are dozens of outlets for Denver fans to catch up on Top Gear. Currently, local retailer Barnes and Noble carries a number of the series available on DVD. American audiences can purchase series 10 through series 16. Online retailer Amazon is currently taking pre-orders for the series 17 DVD, which is set to be released February 28, 2012.

Denver subscribers to the cable network BBC America can also watch Top Gear every Monday night. The network is currently airing a "Lost Season" of the show, which features never-before-seen episodes from early in the show's run. The network is set to air series 18 beginning in spring 2012.
