Well it’s that time again to get your house decorated in fake spider webs, card board tomb stones and scarecrows. Now that we are literally three weeks away from Halloween, many Chicagoans are already making their plans for what to do that night.
Besides going to six flags for fright fest, which FYI not really that frightening, nothing beats getting spooked by the attractions that are in your own backyard. But it’s not just about places to go to get scared but to find the best candy.
Let’s start with the scares first, you don’t want to be dull and visit a silly house maze or too extreme like taking a wigi board to a cemetery, you will be nuts to do so. You want to be right in the middle to get your holiday fix; here are the top five places that will give you a good time.
- Statesville Haunted Prison
These five haunted attractions are sure to give you more scare for your buck, and give you a weeks worth of nightmares.
Now on to the candy, what’s Halloween without candy? Below are the top five areas where you are sure to get king sized goodness and not the fun size stuff.
- Oak Park
- Lincoln Park
- Logan Square
- Elmwood Park
- Forest Park, IL
These are just a few of the places where you want to take your child to trick or treat. What makes it scarier is that the suburbs usually have only one street light per block so the mood is already set there anyway.
The only bad side to this years Halloween is that it falls on a weekday, so that means you will have to get your fixes early and be back just in time for work and/or school the next day, unless you’re planning on calling off or skipping, then you have all night to run wild.
