Many consumers got their hands on the Playstation 3 Slim this week. Thanks to the redesigned hardware and lowered price point, hardware sales have increased. So what should consumers be buying along with the new Playstation 3 model? Here are the top five games that every new Playstation 3 Slim owners should have in their collection.
5. Wipeout HD
A majority of new Playstation 3 Slim owners will hook their system up to a HDTV. With full 1080p rendering while running at a smooth 60 frames per second, Wipeout HD is a visual showcase for the Playstation 3. The futuristic racing title with emphasis on blazing speed is also quite fun, especially when competing with others online over the Playstation Network.
4. Killzone 2
This exclusive first-person shooter is easily one of the best-looking games for any system. The dazzling special effects intensified the battlefield experience. While the story mode is great, it is the multiplayer that will keep you awake at nights. With great map designs and a deep class system, Killzone 2 is one of the best multiplayer games on the Playstation 3.
3. Flower
The Dual Shock 3 controller that comes with the Playstation 3 Slim has motion-sensing capabilities. Unfortunately, it is a feature that is rarely used in the games on the system. The one title that does it best is the Playstation Network exclusive, Flower. By tilting the Dual Shock 3, you can control the petal-blowing wind. It makes for a very relaxing and incredible experience.
2. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
The fourth title in the series marked the end of the long-running Metal Gear Solid saga that was spread out through multiple video game systems. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots on the Playstation 3 is the best game in the award-winning series so far thanks to its stunning cinematic presentation in addition to streamlined gameplay. If the epic story wasn’t enough, you can also take your stealth and shooting skills online in the much under-appreciated Metal Gear Online mode.
1. LittleBigPlanet
Many consider Sackboy to be the mascot of the Playstation 3. While the virtual creature has a lot of charm, it is the game in which he starred in that gave him the big credentials. LittleBigPlanet is a physics-based platforming game where you can create and share levels with others online. Furthermore, you can team up with three other fans to take on the numerous story levels in addition to well over a million user-created ones. Every Playstation 3 Slim owners should have LittleBigPlanet in their game library.

Great list. But IMO Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots should be number 1. I never played Little Big Planet (which seems kinda boring to me) and I don't think it will even match with MGS 4 at the terms of quality. But of course those are my opinions. Again; thank you for this great list.

I agree, those are some fantastic games for the PS3 (I particularly like WipeoutHD and LBP myself), MGS4 was awesome, no lie, and I don't want to take anything away from that. But, WipeoutHD and LBP both provide vastly more replayability. Not to mention the ridiculous charm that is LBP.
Honorable mention should definitely go to Uncharted though, that game was incredible.

Wow, I did not know the PS3 games suck. And why would I buy a Xbox when you can have intercourse with a PS3. I knew it did a lot of things but if you can do that, then I'm sold. Yet another reason to own a PS3. Sony is there anything your black box can't do.

Good list , it's nice to some cheaper games and it's nice to see the inclusion of some games that aren't the blockbuster action adventure and shooter games.

Personally not a big fan of MGS, online is pretty terrible. Also, while very innovative and fun, Little Big Planet gets repetitive fast. I would not list Infamous a system seller as Prototype is a much better game. Here is what I would recommend: (sorry, talking about exclusives only)
Old "CHEAP" Classics:
Heavenly Sword
Lair (with new control scheme downloaded)
Ratchet and Clank
Uncharted
New Titles:
Killzone 2 (even though controls feel a little clunky to me)
Resistance 2
As far as multiplatformer titles go they run better on the 360 online and offline a majority of the time (textures/frames/Live/lag/etc.), if all else fails I would choose Achievements over Trophies any day when given identical versions. These are really the only reasons to drop $300 bucks in my opinion. I don't care and have no loyalty to MS/NINTY/orSONY, just trying to help out first time consumers (I have gone through 6 360's). Remember: PS3slim does not have ANY PS2 backwards compatibilty.
Prototype over inFamous are you nuts! I can hear the 360 fanboy in this guy. (Kmach) This dumbass is going to say KILLZONE 2 has clunky controls, have you even played the game? You mean Prototype has clunky controls, and most of the abilities you earn are worthless! The difficulty level is so lopsided, one minute its just impossible and then after countless tries it just lets you pass when you haven't change you tactics or done anything different! infamous's story line, grafx, game play,ext..., pretty much everything about it is just so polished and refined. Its one of the best games this gen! infamous was and is being developed by Sucker Punch need I say more!
