There are a lot of events to check out in Boston and the surrounding areas this summer. These five Boston local rock shows listed below are definitely shows that cannot be missed this July. Stay cool on these hot and humid summer nights with great music, good friends, and cold beers.

PowerSlut brings a raunchy rock and roll sound and they will be releasing their debut album, "With Great Power Comes Great Slut", Check out PowerSlut's Album Release Party featuring Streight Angular, Hope and the Husbands, and A Bunch of Jerks at T.T. the Bear's Place in Cambridge on Thursday July 3. Tickets are available for $10 and the show is 18+.

On July 5 the alternative rock stylings of Western Education can be heard at The Middle East Downstairs as part of their release of "Let Your Secrets Out". Barricades, Twin Berlin, The Susan Constant, and The Life Electric will be joining them on the bill. Tickets are available for $10 and the show is 18+.

Nate Leavitt Band will be performing an acoustic folk set at O'Brien's Pub in Allston on July 11. Ruby Rose Fox and Airport will be joining with special guests Magen Tracy and Dan Nicklin. Tickets are available for $10.

Beachcomber in Quincy will be presenting a Nirvana Tribute Show on July 12 for those in need of a 90's alternative rock fix. Three sets will be performed including music from "Bleach" to "Unplugged".

July 19 will bring Indie Rock Ranger Presents Summer Spectacular Show featuring Sidewalk Driver and their glam rock sound to The Sinclair in Cambridge with The Venetia Fair, Salita, and The Color and Sound rounding out the bill. Tickets are available for $12 and the show is 18+.
