Top five Boston local rock shows to attend in August

There are a lot of events to check out in Boston and the surrounding areas this summer and as it comes to a close in the next month check out these five Boston local rock shows listed below. They're all different kinds of rock and venues depending on taste and location. So enjoy the rest of the summer with great music, good friends, and cold beers.

Kick off August with the hybrid Americana and indie rock stylings of The Grownup Noise, Brooklyn based rock band Miracles of Modern Science, and Benjamin Cartel of the duo Kaiser Cartel in Cambridge on Friday August 1 at The Lizard Lounge.Tickets are available for $10 and the show is 21+.

Why not make the first week of August a double header? After sitting with friends and drinking to the calming and soulful sounds of The Grownup Noise rock out with The Shills, Eastern Hollows, Dances, and Low Key in Allston on Saturday August 2 at Great Scott. Tickets are available for $9 and the show is 21+.

Zerobot, formally known as The Interrobang, are in the process of recording an LP and will bring an aggressive and energetic rock to the stage. They'll be joined by Await Rescue, Goddamn Draculas, GOZU, and Replacement Friends in Cambridge on Friday August 15 at Middle East Upstairs. Tickets are $10 and the show is 18+.

The Field Effect act as a time machine transporting listeners back to the early 2000's alternative rock scene with their explosive rock performance. Along with The Field Effect, The Color and Sound and The Box Tiger, be playing on Friday August 22 at T.T. the Bear's Place in Cambridge. Tickets are $10 and the show is 18+.

Four Point Restraints, a band with their own evocative and theatrical take on alternative rock, Universal Truth Machine, No Small Children, and Life Before Insanity will makeup the lineup on Saturday August 23 at Beachcomber in Quincy. Tickets are $7 and the show is 21+.
