Top five bodybuilding supplements & foods from

It is certainly difficult to pick a mere five products from to note as being the top five (the protein category alone boasts—count them—905 products!!!) yet, the list herein is based on products that are means to fill in your day; not merely pills but drinks, foods, etc.

To see all of the products we have reviewed, see this link.

First up is the breakfast of champions; pancakes!

As noted in the review found at this link; Chef Jay's: Pancake Mix is the way to go:

“The chef is in the house and is serving up a favorite morning time treat—unless you are into soul food in which case you can have waffles and fried chicken any time of day ;o)

Mix up your high protein breakfast a bit with my Tri-O-Plex High Protein Pancake and Waffle Mix. It tastes amazing, is low in fat and high in protein. Add egg whites or your favorite protein powder for an added dose of protein. It mixes in minutes and will stay with you all morning long.

Here are some nutrition facts:

Calories 198

Total Carbohydrate 32g

Protein 13g

And some of the ingredients:

Enriched All Purpose Flour

CJ Protein Blend (Soy Protein Isolate, Whey Protein Isolate)

Egg Yolk

Egg Whites

Yogurt Powder

Whole Wheat Flour

What better to go with pancakes but coffee? In fact, coffee is my secret energy weapon: makes some in the morning, put it in the fridge and when workout time comes around; mix your protein powder into the cold coffee rather than into water.

As noted in the review found at this link:

Rich Rewards

This coffee comes in the form of a Breakfast Blend Ground Coffee and Decaf Roast Ground Coffee.

But why is coffee being sold by a company that is based upon bodybuilding/sports/fitness nutrition?:

Not all coffee provides the same health-protective effects.1-13 When it comes to obtaining coffee's full range of benefits, most people aren't getting their money's worth. The reason? Most of the coffee bean's polyphenol content is destroyed during the roasting process required to create a dark, rich blend.

Muscle is made of protein and protein is made of amino acids so supplementing with aminos at various points during the day is always a good idea.

As noted in the review found at this link:

Specifically, these are silk amino acids (SAA). On amino acids in general, WebMD notes:

Branched-chain amino acids are essential nutrients that the body obtains from proteins found in food, especially meat, dairy products, and legumes…help slow muscle wasting in people who are confined to bed…prevent fatigue and improve concentration.

Athletes use branched-chain amino acids to improve exercise performance and reduce protein and muscle breakdown during intense exercise.

Protein supplements come in very many forms, in this case we are dealing with, essentially, an RTD in the form of a liquid, juice-like, massive dose of protein.

As noted in the review found at this link:

MuscleMeds “Carnivor” liquid protein shot:

These are available in punch flavor: 12 vials, orange flavor: 12 vials or both flavors: 6 vials.

This is the beef protein supplement endorsed by the muscle powerhouse Kai Greene. The super power behind this supplement is that it is “The World's First Beef Protein Isolate” which is, ready for this, “350% More Concentrated Than Steak and More Concentrated Than Whey!” 350%!!!

But this is not simply powdered beef, it also:

Contains Anabolic Nitrogen Retention Technology (ANRT) which helps recycle Aminos and minimizes Ammonia buildup in the body for greater muscle growth!...the only protein with this technology that is capable of recycling aminos back into the anabolic muscle building pathways for increased nitrogen retention and improved muscle growth and performance!’

Moreover, while creatine is naturally occurring in beef, this product contains “20 Times the Creatine Content of Steak! Added BCAA for Increased Anabolic and Anti-Catabolic Effects!”

Each 200 cal serving is fat free, with zero carbs and a knock out power punch of 50 g protein!

Lastly, we come to a beef based amino acid supplement.”

Want to know the secret of mass / weight gaingers? It is just a bunch of regular protein powder. Well, some have a lot of added nutrition but, in essence, the containers are bigger because the serving sizes are bigger. In other words, if you want to gain mass / weight then mass / weight gainer protein supplements are the way to go. Yet, also, if you want more bang for your buck you can still buy some mass / weight gainer protein supplements and just take a lesser dose; that is a great way to save money—by getting a large, economy sized, container.

As noted in the review found at this link:

First up in our review is the Nature's Best Isopure Mass which comes in Creamy Vanilla 3.25 lbs, Creamy Vanilla 7 lbs and Dutch Chocolate 3.25 lbs, Dutch Chocolate 7 lbs.

It always help to have a smooth, great tasting protein drink to sip between those heavy sets which occupy our bulking fall/winter workouts and this one hits the spot. I chose the creamy vanilla and so the specifics below pertain to it; although there will only be slight differences between it and the Dutch chocolate:

Nature's Best Isopure Mass is a state of the art weight gainer loaded with 53 grams of 100% Ion Exchange whey protein isolate, 86g carbs, 4g fiber and only 3 grams of sugar. Plus, it's packed with BCAA's and glutamine for muscle tissue support. It's not too sweet, or thick, and won't upset your stomach. It's lactose free and trans fat free.

…Some of the ingredients are as follows: Ion Exchange Whey Protein Isolate, Sunflower Oil, Alkalized cocoa powder, Maltodextrin, Vitamin/mineral/amino acid blend, etc.

The supplement facts are:

Calories 600

Total Fat 5g

Carbs 86g

Protein 53g.”
