Lets start with the head, it's huge. The head is ment to be extra-large in comparison to the body. The breeds lips and ear are two impotant aspect of the dog predominantly because they can cause health problems, such as infections, if are not clean regularly. Mastiffs are well muscled and resemble the shape of a bull. These impressive, big-mouthed dogs are among one of the best protection dogs. Just look at them! They were bred to be big, black and look savage. This molosser breed first came about in 2000 BC to protect ones land and livestock from lions. They also used them as a home protectors and hunting partners. The breeds hunting skills include big game such as lions, boers, even bears. The mastiff was also used as a war weapon durring the riegn of the Roman empire. Neo-mastiffs have adapted to family life and today love to be a member of the family. The have a very calm personality and if you can put up with the drool possible health problems they can make a great family protector or single lady's bodyguard. Since they have an above average intellegents, a dominate owner and strong trainer may be needed to train these dogs as they are not for everyone.
