Today the 67th Golden Globes nominations were announced at the Beverly Hilton. Director Rob Marshall’s up and coming musical film “Nine” seems to have clearly risen to the top of the list. This morning “Nine” received nominations for “Best Motion Picture” and "Best Original Score" for the song “Cinema Italiano” written by Maury Yeston. The cast of "Nine" was also recognized with both Daniel Day Lewis and Marion Cotillard receiving nominations for "Best Actor" and "Best Actress". Penelope Cruz who also stars in "Nine", received a nomination for “Best performance in a supporting role”.
Gabourney Sidibe has been receiving quite a “media buzz” since her debut on screen in the film “Precious”, adapted from the novel “Push”. Today Sidibe was nominated for “Best performance by an Actress in a motion picture”. “Precious” co-star Monique was also nominated for "Best performance by an actress in a supporting role". Monique has already been awarded a special jury prize for “Best supporting actress” at the 2009 Sundance Awards, where the film received rave reviews.
An actress synonymous with awards Meryl Streep, was nominated twice in the category for “Best Actress in a motion picture” for films “Julie and Julia”, and “It’s complicated”.
Another Actress nominated twice this year is Sandra Bullock who has received wonderful reviews of her performance as Leigh Anne Tuohy in the inspiring film “The Blind side”. Bullock also received a Golden Globe nod for her role in the romantic comedy “The proposal”.

Si Fi film “Avatar” received a nomination for “Best Motion Picture”, and earned its director James Cameron (“Titanic” ) a nomination for “Best Director”. Avatar was also nominated in the 'Best Musical Score' and song “I will see you” by James Horner and Simon Franglen. The 3d film hits theaters this weekend and is expected to be another blockbuster for the director.
Actor Morgan Freeman is considered a “shoe in” to take home the “Best Actor “ award for his portrayal of Nelson Mandela in “Invictus”. Matt Damon also appears in “Invictus” as Francious Pienaar, the South African team captain, earned a nominated for “Best performance in a supporting role”. Damon also received a nomination for his role in the dark comedy “The informant ”. Tune in NBC on January 17, 2010 to see Ricky Gervais host the 67th Golden Globes live from the Beverly Hilton.

I think Monique and Gabourney Sidibe both did a wonderful jobe in the film "Precious" and I just hope that both of the contenders win the Golden Globe and Oscars. Their roles where so convincing. I haven't seen the other films, but "Precious" was so raw and gritty...Hopefully, they won't get played by the Golden Globes or the Oscars, these awards are very deserving by both.
