Popular "Top Chef" host Padma Lakshmi is now officially a mom. The TV host released the news in a statement from her representative on Monday:
"Model, author and Emmy-nominated host of Top Chef Padma Lakshmi gave birth to a baby girl named Krishna Thea Lakshmi on Saturday...Mother and baby are well and happy."
While Padma has received her positive share of publicity thanks to the pregnancy, many people are still crying out for her to reveal the identity of the father. The 39-year old struggled with getting pregnant over the course of the past few years, but finally found success last summer. The pregnancy was officially announced in October, and she filmed the conclusion of "Top Chef" last year with a noticeable baby bump.
As for the unusual name, Padma said recently that it was always in the cards:
"I am going to name the child an Indian name. It will be after someone in my family, so don't expect to see an Anglicized name – it will be a classically Indian Sanskrit name."
