Florida is known for its unique, interested and breathtaking flowers and plants. Many of these plants are preserved and on display throughout the state at the many different botanical gardens, including the one right here in Vero Beach - McKee Botanical Gardens. (My personal favorite!)
But this is not the only botanical garden in the area. There are many others which are only a short drive away, but well worth the time to get there. Pack a lunch or enjoy a lunch from the garden cafes at each of these gardens. The benefits of enjoying time in a botanical garden are much more than you expect, including having time to relax.

McKee Botanical Garden
My personal favorite, McKee Botanical Garden is located at 350 US Highway 1 in Vero Beach and is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and on Sundays from noon-5 p.m. For more information call 772.794.0601 or visit McKeeGarden.org.
Heathcote Botanical Gardens
Located at 210 Savannah Road in Fort Pierce Heathcote Botanical Gardens is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sundays from 1-5 p.m.
Oxbow Eco-Center
Located at 5400 NE James Drive in Port St. Lucie, the Oxbow Eco-Center is another personal favorite. This garden is open Tuesdays through Fridays from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from noon-5 p.m. For more information call 772.785.5833 or visit co.st-lucie.fl.us/erd/oxbow.
Historic Bok Sanctuary
Historic Bok Sanctuary is located at 1151 Tower Blvd. in Lake Wales. Hours of operation are daily from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. For more information call 863.734.1221 or visit BokSanctuary.org.
Tropical Ranch Botanical Gardens
Only open one weekend a month, Tropical Ranch Botanical Gardens is well worth it. The garden is located at 1905 SW Ranch Train in Stuart. For more information call 772.283.5565 or visit TropicalBotanicalGardens.com.
Tropical Garden Tour
La Maison Fleurie is open by appointments only from November through May for guided tours. Located in Jensen Beach (1028 NE Kubin Avenue). For more information or to book your tour call 772.334.1094.
