Top advice for San Diego Dads: take care of numero uno

Take care of number 1.

No advice will substitute for this or make your job as Dad more successful and fulfilling.

Put yourself first.

You are the center of your own world. No one can benefit from your good intentions if you can't actually deliver the goods, e.g.: you're too sick or stressed to deal.

Dial back any notion of “doing for others” until you grasp the concept of self stewardship.
In the process of putting yourself first, you become better at and more able to give to others – namely our mates and children.

Locking this into your mindset will make you a happier person.

Living this way creates a better you, and provides a truly healthful example of life to your children.
Because it is easy to drown in vast pool of advice and directives that come from an endless array of sources, the trick is to approach self care with simplicity in mind,

Just swim to the side with these 2 thoughts:

  1. It is ok to put yourself first
  2. You can do so immediately and before anything else.

If you were actually drowning, saving your own life would be at the top of the to-do's.

This is not a bad thing. It is what needs to be done before anything else.

Don't think too much about. Act on the knowledge you have now and build a whole list of holistic habits that create a strong & capable body, mind, and spirit.

The cycle of activity you generate will benefit everyone in your life.
