Top 5 reasons to oppose the national ID card

AP Photo/Manuel Balce Ceneta

There is a new national ID card being proposed in the Senate as part of the left's latest attempt to import 15 million new Democrat voters (illegal immigrants) that will contain the fingerprints and other personal information of the person it belongs to.

Every U.S. citizen will be required to get one and it is being sold as an attempt to make it more difficult for companies to hire illegal immigrants. But both parties in Washington routinely have to be dragged kicking and screaming into resisting illegal immigration and this sudden interest in the rule of law simply doesn't smell right.

Below are the top five reasons to oppose this intrusive new government program.

5. It is being proposed by Lindsey Graham (R), also known as "Senator Grahamnesty" for his extensive left-wing record on immigration. Graham was a flag-waving supporter of the McCain-Kennedy amnesty giveaway and is on the record telling the racist Latino supremacist group La Raza that "we're going to tell the bigots to shut up."

Anyone who would attack regular Americans for prioritizing fairness, public safety and the rule of law as "bigots" simply has no business pretending to champion tougher enforcement measures.

4. Democrats support it.

3. Chief among those Democrats is Chuck Schumer, who voted to continue funding for sanctuary cities, against improving border enforcement and for giving illegal immigrants FEMA benefits and Social Security checks. Schumer even rejects English as our national language...and this is the guy we're supposed to believe is just trying to tighten enforcement of our immigration laws.

2. As with Social Security cards, these national ID cards will be expanded upon and eventually used to authorize or deny everything from banking accounts, to housing, to gun rights.

1. It is illegal. Congress has no authority under our Constitution to impose such mandates on U.S. citizens. If these champions of amnesty suddenly want to stop illegal immigrants from getting jobs here, they need to start by doing one of the few things they are actually supposed to be doing under our Constitution--securing our borders...while deporting the criminals who have already broken into our country.

We spent a lot of time, blood, and treasure defeating Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union. Now we are becoming them. It might be a good idea to start looking for someplace else to live.

Sooooo, let's see... the above the law, irresponsible and incompetent Federal Government failed miserably to stop or at least control illegal immigration so now we ALL have to have an ID card. Of course this is just so they can prevent illegals from being hired, hahahahaha. There is already a system in place that allows employers to check a persons legal status... E-VERIFY! The E-verify check is done on a computer; it's free and fast, a 5 minute process.

That national ID card will have RFID chip in it, it will be a big brother tracking device. You won't have to swipe the card, just walk by a reader.... Big Brother will always be watching.

Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness will very soon be a distant memory.

Here is my suggestion on how to fight illegal immigration. First off send out ICE agents to all meat packing, textile, chicken processing plants available and you'll probably find a slew of illegals. Imprison any employer who willingly hires illegals. Next vote out all the traitors who would support Shamnesty and prefer to call Americans "bigots" because they're too big of a coward to fight to secure America's borders for fear of being labeled a racist. Next bring our troops home and place them on our southern border where they're needed instead of dying, being maimed, disfigured fighting wars for Israel.

    "4. Democrats support it."

Let's see. Democrats supported war in Afghanistan. Therefore Mr Moon the community organizer and author of non-best-selling book must believe it's bad bad bad.

Mr Moon: What's your educational background? 'Cause I want to make sure my kids don't follow in your path. You've got some twisted logic in your thinking. No wonder you sit on the internet all long. Logic like yours obviously can't be used to make a real living.

Good luck with your community organizing.

E-Verify is as flawed as the Social Security database; it's the anti-immigration equivalent of the security theater performed by the TSA.

Create a viable guest worker program, with proper controls, and you dramatically reduce the incentives to come here illegally. Accept the reality that we've not done that for years and create a not-easy-but-realistic system for current illegals who are productive to EARN their way to legality.

And get serious enforcing the laws against HIRING - which means slapping many business owners upside the head, but too bad - THEY are the real problem because they provide the incentive to sneak in to work.

Then you can throw out idiotic ideas like a National ID Card.

  • Patriot 2 years ago

E-verify is very accurate, but just like everything else it's not perfect because humans are involved. It is still a GREAT resource for ferreting out Illegals with illegal documents and should be used.

  • Dump DC 2 years ago

If all 50 states would just secede from the Union on September 20th, they could fire everyone in DC and institute a new Federal Government.

The Department of XX (everyone) would be abolished and everyone encouraged to get a REAL job, maybe opening their own business. That would save trillions of $$, abolishing the IRS and shrinking the size of the Federal Govt. to within constitutional limitations.

The states have more than enough adequate force to maintain order during the transition as most Americans (We the People) are not willing to let their country be forced down a s**thole.

Whatever federal agencies the States would allow to remain could be worked out before the September 20th date.

Having power returned to State (local) control makes a lot of sense because the Federal behemoth has failed miserably and does not represent your local neighborhood.

Three times the weasels in Washington voted to exempt themselves from ObamaCare. No representation! No Trust!

Snark, "Create a viable guest worker program, with proper controls, and you dramatically reduce the incentives to come here illegally. Accept the reality that we've not done that for years and create a not-easy-but-realistic system for current illegals who are productive to EARN their way to legality."

There are 15 million unemployed Legal American citizens in the U.S. Just who do you want to pick out of that 15 million not to have a job because there are 15 million illegals taking American jobs? Should crime pay? Obeying our laws is important for everyone... illegals should not be rewarded for their crime.

  • esse holmes 2 years ago

    me no speakee english.

  • Snark 2 years ago

Equating unemployed with illegal workers is a false comparison; most unemployed citizens wouldn't be working those jobs if you suddenly waived a magic wand and made the illegals disappear.

Complex problems do not lend themselves to simplistic solutions. And while it may make you feel all righteous to thump the "illegals should not be rewarded for their crime" drum, you ignore the incredible cost of removing those whose only crime has been to try and earn a living, both in government (taxpayer) expenses and in additional damage to the US economy.

Anti-immigration rants are a pseudo-conservative approach, attacking just the supply side without seriously addressing the demand side. If we'd had a rational guest worker program the last few decades, we wouldn't even be having this discussion.

  • Patriot 2 years ago

There is nothing complex about it... illegals get hired for a lower wage because they are illegal. A competitive wage would be paid if the illegals were all deported. No matter how you slice the pie, the illegals being here are screwing the unemployed LEGAL Americans citizens. I recently read that 47% of illegals are on welfare. I'll bet the number is higher. The state of Illinois claims they don't even track such things. The reason is they don't want the taxpayers to know the exact dollar cost to the Illinois taxpayer. It's never complex when you follow the money......

  • Patriot 2 years ago

    Snark, "Anti-immigration rants are a pseudo-conservative approach"

What total b.s., I am not anti-immigration, I and most Americans are anti-ILLEGAL immigration. I have no problem with legal immigration what so ever. Stop twisting my words deceiver, the only thing pseudo is you Snark!

  • esse holmes 2 years ago

Snark is a Snork. Go away troll.

  • Snark 2 years ago

Love to see an actual source for that '47 percent on welfare' claim, since it is contrary to virtually every study of illegal immigrants to date.

If it worked, the H2 Visa process would eliminate your complaint about 'taking citizen's jobs.' But it doesn't work - too cumbersome and arbitrary for employers, and too difficult for foreign workers to get.

Instead, the low-wage agriculture and industrial workers (as opposed to Tech types) face anywhere from 5 to 15 years on a waiting list to be considered for immigration to the US.

The 'let them come here legally' argument is specious - they CANNOT because we've made the process so cumbersome.

If they want to escape the poverty and corruption of their homeland, their only option is to try and get here illegally.

Current immigration law is about as effective as Prohibition was - it simply creates a criminal economy.

Illegal immigrants do jobs that you upstanding Americans refuse to do because you think you're too good for that kind of work, too educated, or you're just plain lazy. The wages would not be competitive even if illegal immigrants weren't working there because then you upstanding Americans would refuse to pay more for the goods you were working to produce. Fruit pickers, laundry workers, hotel cleaners, maids, etc... Do you really expect me to believe you'd pay more for your food? Or stay at a hotel if it cost $40 extra to cover the cost to pay the people who clean it when you leave? Give me a break. You need these people and you wouldn't know what to do if they were all gone. What idiocy.

  • CC Rider 2 years ago

Yeah right Faugn how would America ever manage without Julio, Pepe, Juan, or Ramon or how could we survive without Rafaela and her 8 kids to take care of, I mean after all we see how these people have managed Mexico. By the way if it weren't for the traitors hiring this cheap labor for meat packing, chicken processing plants, textile mills they would have to pay a decent wage to unemployed Americans who desperately need the work right now. I will admit there are a lot of hard working Mexicans but their are a significant amount who cause crime, abuse the system and are looking to TAKE as much as possible from a country they have absolutely no loyalty whatsoever.

Most Hispanic families take care of their family members instead of dumping them once they get too old, or kicking out the pregnant teens. Furthermore, you seem to think that ONLY "Mexicans" are illegal immigrants. You have totally failed to consider that other countries also have people who seek asylum in the US. Not to mention - Mexico might not be so mismanaged if the US wouldn't have picked over the areas they wanted to keep. Hello, Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, just for starters...

There's a significant amount of criminals who cause crime and bleed the system. White, black, Asian, Hispanic. You just sound like a racist. What about all the white folks who are bleeding the system b/c of crazy religious fanaticism? Where would you send them back to after you're done purging this melting pot of it's immigrants?

How in the world do you know these people have no loyalty to this country? That sort of statement shows your incredible ignorance.

  • Patriot 2 years ago

    Snark,

"Love to see an actual source for that '47 percent on welfare' claim, since it is contrary to virtually every study of illegal immigrants to date."

What studies and what numbers are you inferring?? Prove it wrong!

  • Patriot 2 years ago

Faug, "Mexico might not be so mismanaged if the US wouldn't have picked over the areas they wanted to keep. Hello, Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, just for starters"

How does that cause mismanagement??? You're a joke! 98% of the wealth is possessed by 2% of the people. I suppose that is our fault too!

  • Patriot 2 years ago

Snark, "The 'let them come here legally' argument is specious"

Not specious at all, thousands have entered thru legal immigration for years. Those that chose to OBEY the law. The system is cumbersome to those who don't want to obey our immigration laws and set their own quotas. I have a friend who immigrated from England... it wasn't "easy" for him either but he followed the rules. They make people jump thru the hoops for a reason. You libtards always think the end justifies the means, whether it is illegal or immoral it's irrelevant!

  • Patriot 2 years ago

Faug, We don't owe Mexico or the Mexican people squat! We don't save money on nothing by them being here, only the greedy owners who hire the illegals do. The obscene profits they make is because we the taxpayers bankroll food stamps, medicare, medicaid, free hospitalization, abuse of the community reinvestment act. They are blood suckers.

  • Snark 2 years ago

Well, "Patriot" you could start with the fact that illegals cannot even legally get welfare, which rather limits the numbers using it.
Or go read the studies by the Pew Hispanic Center.

As for legally immigrating, ask your buddy from England what hoops he had to go through - then go find a legal Mexican or Central American agricultural worker and ask HIM what kind of hoops he went through, and see how they compare.

We don't give them the options that most of our ancestors had to come to the USA for a better life.

  • Patriot 2 years ago

Snark, illegals can't come to this country legal either, did that keep them from it?? And if you think they can't get welfare because it isn't legal then you are either lying or stupid, it happens all the time everyday. The illegals don't care that the state of Illinois has a 12 BILLION dollar debt and that the school system my grand-kids attend just had to cut 11 million from their budget because the irresponsible & incompetent state of Illinois can't pay it's bills. They reneged on their promises to the school system but still give tax dollars to the leeching illegals on welfare. So take you sob story and... well, you know what to do with it, your head is already up there!

Quotas keep EVERY person who wants to come to this country from coming, not the hoops to jump thru in the system. Stop insinuating that Mexicans are discriminated against, because that is a damn lie!

  • Snark 2 years ago

Aw gee, a succession of corrupt governors and the political machines of Chicago and East St. Louis, Cook County and St. Clair County, had nothing to do with Illinois budget problems, huh? It was all the illegal immigrants, huh?

Work on your target acquisition before firing blanks, big guy.

  • Robert Moon 2 years ago

What Patriot is saying is common knowledge. Both sides have admitted that Social Security, for instance, is rampantly abused by illegal immigrants to get jobs, housing...just about everything.

Any law that does not have an air-tight system for preventing illegal immigrants from abusing it will get abused, period.

  • Snark 2 years ago

But you should be glad they abuse Social Security. Illegals who use fake S.S. cards pay into the system with both their contributions and the employer contributions - but they don't get any S.S. back.

They're helping keep the system afloat for the rest of us!

  • Robert Moon 2 years ago

    Snark,

Not for long. Democrats have already proposed repeatedly that we let them participate in SS too.

Too bad they are utterly bankrupting our schools, crowding our prisons and bottoming out our wages or at least their trivial contributions to the SS system would actually MEAN something while they last.

  • Snark 2 years ago

Well, the prisons thing has been thoroughly debunked elsewhere, and the schools have a lot more problems than some kids of illegals. And most economists will disagree on the wages thing.

And the number of illegals has gone down, not up, with the recession - no jobs for anyone.

All while you ignore the cost of trying to seal the borders. We couldn't even seal Iraq's borders with Syria and Iran with tanks and UAVs and thousands of troops. The East Germans were spending more than $1 million per mile per year in the ~~ 1970s ~~ to keep the border with W. Germany closed - and still people got through.

Unless you deal with the demand side, you're just spinning your wheels. As far back as Reagan, Bush, Clinton and Bush all proposed rational guest worker programs - the neo-nativists shot them down, and now grouse about the results.
