Top 5 of last few days of cartoons about the steep Obama rise in gas prices

Yahoo! News (with an assist from the Drudge Report) is currently featuring a story about the "achievement" of $5-per-gallon gasoline prices in downtown Los Angeles, located of course in the superiorly "progressive" and "environmentally conscious" state of California.

Meanwhile, cartoonists continue to feature the recent steep rise in gas prices as one of their most popular current themes.

The rise in gasoline prices has, of course, resulted from a combination of global demand factors, the inevitable eventual Barack Obama "green energy" pseudo-policies, Iranian hostility (manifested in the last week or so by a cut-off in its shipments to Europe) and other factors.

Therefore, to follow up on a similarly-themed Top 10 published last Tuesday, Jewish Culture Examiner has assembled, via Townhall.com, a Top 5 of the best recent cartoons on the steep rise in gasoline prices.

At #5, Chuck Asay offers commentary about the long-term effect of Barack Obama’s blocking of domestic oil drilling.

The #4 cartoon, by Nate Beeler, portrays the rise in oil prices as a "preemptive strike" by the regime holding power in Iran.

The "Three Stooges" (in this case, Iran, Barack Obama and the oil companies) are invoked in the cartoon at #3, by Ken Catalino.

The #2 cartoon uses the imagery of a stick-up to suggest the impact gasoline prices will have on Democrat electoral prospects in November.

Finally, at #1, Gary Varvel contrast Big Media's eagerness to blame President George W. Bush for much smaller rises in gasoline prices in 2004 and 2008 with the current attempt to absolve Barack Obama for any blame for the recent, much more dramatic rise in gasoline prices.
