Top 35 programs of 2012: #19 Hippest Hippest Chinnest Chinnest (Photos)

Tessa Virtue/Scott Moir CAN
2012 World Figure Skating Championships short dance

Lots and lots of ice dance teams skated to Hip Hip Chin Chin and Mujer Latina last season for their samba-rhythm short dances, but really, one team did those pieces so much better than the rest.

This was the short dance of the World Championships – great movement and musicality with their trademark precision. Tessa Virtue/Scott Moir, after losing to rivals Meryl Davis/Charlie White at the 2011 Grand Prix Final, came back to beat them twice, first at Four Continents and then again at Worlds, starting with this superb short dance.

Much like the Shibutanis’ short dance, Virtue/Moir’s captured the essence of the samba so well and integrated it throughout their dance, something that a lot of dance teams didn’t quite master. It’s a program that goes by in a flash, leaving you wanting more.
