Best 2012 Memories, #20: Meeting Optimus Prime and Bumblebee
While Halloween Horror Nights is my favorite Universal Orlando Resort event, there were many great media events at the parks this year. I met some of the Despicable Me voices at the ride's opening, got previews of the Superstar Parade and the Cinematic Spectacular lagoon show, and was one of the first to ride the newly revamped Spiderman. I even interviewed the Grinch at Islands of Adventure, then went next door for a Mannheim Steamroller concert.
Those things are all fond memories, but they just can't top one thing: meeting Optimus Prime and Bumblebee. Universal Studios Florida announced the Transformers 3D ride that opens in 2013, and the imposing due was on hand to meet the press.
They're definitely just as impressive in person as they are on screen. Posing with them was one of the best photo opportunities of the year.
The new ride at Universal Studios Florida will be pretty much the same as the Hollywood version, but the building itself will be very different. Click the video at lower left to learn more about this new attraction, which opens in 2012.
