Best 2012 Memories, #17: Penn and Teller at Halloween Horror Nights
Halloween Horror Nights 2012 didn't have an icon to act as the main face of the event, but it was packed with media tie-ins. Silent Hill and the Walking Dead were the two big ones, but Alice Cooper had his own haunted house, too, just as he'd had for a while in the Hollywood version of the event.
One of the big names actually made appearances at Halloween Horror Nights, starting with opening night. Actually, that would be two big names: Vegas magicians Penn and Teller.
The famed duo collaborated with Universal Orlando Resort on their own Vegas-themed haunted house, set after one of their tricks goes horribly wrong and causes a nuclear catastrophe. Instead of slowing things down in Sin City, it results in a few chances, like glowing sets and three-breasted showgirls.
Penn and Teller were on hand for opening night at Universal Studios Florida, and I found myself right in front of them as they fielded media questions. Click the video at lower left to see their presentation and Q&A. I'm a big fan of their show "Bullsh!t" that used to be on Showtime, and I couldn't believe I had the opportunity to tell them so in person.
