Best 2012 Memories, #19: Winning a Hero Pass
Legoland Florida turned one year old in 2012. I was there for the grand opening last year and even for the construction, taking a helicopter tour over the site several months before the gates opened. I was also there when the Legoland Florida Water Park opened this year, watching General Manager Adrian Jones get a soaking.
This year, Legoland Florida accounts for two of my favorite memories. The first was on the park's birthday, and it wasn't even part of a press event. I was strolling around the park, enjoying the rides, when I lucked into a "birthday gift." There was a special promotion in which guests could randomly receive prizes like food vouchers, tickets, and even annual passes.
Click the video at lower left to see the birthday celebration presentation, which was followed up by free cupcakes.
My prize was a Hero Pass, which is basically an all-day front-of-the-line pass. The lines can get long when the park is crowded because many of the best rides have a relatively low capacity. With the pass, I could ride them as much as I wished.
The Hero Pass was especially helpful on the Aquazone Wave Racers, a fun but slow-loading water ride that almost always have a line. I gave it a good workout on the roller coasters, too. Even though they-re kid friendly coaster, I still enjoy admiring the Lego creations as I ride the Dragon, I love the twists and turns of the Technic coasters, and I always think of Cypress Gardens and Triple Hurricane when I bounce along on Coastersaurus.
I'll have another memory from this Legoland Florida later, but in the meantime, continue on to another park for my next memory.
