August 13th at 7PM will be a defining moment for MMA in the mid-south. Prestige Fights presents the latest top level MMA card. Several skilled high level fighters will appear on the Prestige Fights 4 Bayou Brawl card at the Alario Center in Westwego. "We want to show the world that the people who are fighting on Prestige Fights are among the very best in the sport," said promoter Carlos Mena. "Two of the fights on Saturday night will define regional professional standouts ... guys that the UFC should be looking to recruit," Mena said. Specifically Mena is referring to two major fights on the card Saturday night. The superfight 170 pound championship between Charlie Rader and Lanny Dardar and the finals of the 155 pound Prestige Fights tournament between Austin Lyons and Dan Loman.
Charlie Rader has faced big challenges before. Prior to his appearance on the Ultimate Fighter television series (season 13) he went five fights in a row versus top level opponents to prove that he was a top contender. Having lost in the first round of the television show the Rader, who is 16-5, is looking to prove to the world deserves to be recognized as a top level 170 pound fighter. Lanny Dardar of Houma wants to stop him from making his point. Dardar, who is 7-3, is known for being a hard hitting, tough fighter who has beaten several of the best 170 pound fighters in the region. According to his coach and manager, Justin Verdin, "Lanny has been waiting a long time for this opportunity."
The Austin Lyons vs. Dan Loman fight has the potential to be another great, defining fight. Lyons (8-1) who has won on Bellator and who has beaten many top level opponents in the Memphis area is facing a stiff challenge from Dan Lomann, a veteran fighter who has fought the likes of Charles Krazyhorse Bennet and Gabe Lemley on major promotions such as King of the Cage. Loman, who hails from Illinois hasn't fought in more than a year is now training with American Top Team in Florida.
Both of these fights and the excellent venue offered by the Alario Center make both of these fights must see events. In addition, Prestige Fights, as usual is presenting ten additional fights (including two professional fights) many of which are very compelling.
