Another year has passed and it is the beginning of a new season. Sometimes, to move forward we need to take a look back, as is always the case with fashion.
To keep in step with the year 2012, comprised below is a list of the top 12 best dressed women of the year. These women are of various ages, nationalities, social statuses and careers. Some names are familiar, while others may be new to you.
At the top of the list is the First Lady of the United States. A fashion trendsetter, some have said that she has a style similar to that of the late former first lady, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis…but in fact, Mrs. Obama has a style all her own. She walks the halls of the White House with elegance and grace. Among her many initiatives and workings as FLOTUS, Mrs. Obama has also come to be known for her fashion style. She may be the second of the three wives of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, but she is definitely the best dressed! Sheikha Mozah is listed at #74 as one of Forbes’ 100 most powerful women.

Editor-in-chief for Vogue magazine since 1988, Wintour has been a fashion icon for years. Always dressed impeccably with her signature pageboy bob haircut and large sunglasses, Wintour has been a major force in helping to shape the fashion industry into what it is today.
