One of the topics most covered this month by cartoonists is the recent steep rise in gas prices. The rise, of course, has resulted from a combination of global demand, Barack Obama “green energy” pseudo-policies, Iranian hostility (manifested in the last few days by a cut-off in its shipments to Europe) and other factors.

Therefore, Philadelphia Jewish Culture Examiner has assembled, via Townhall.com, a Top 10 of the best recent cartoons on the steep rise gasoline prices.

At #10, Michael Ramirez depicts the Obama White House’s failure to put real pressure on Iran, necessitating that Israel take action against the genocide the Mahmoud Ahmadinejad regime would like to take place. This relates to the recent Iranian cut-off of oil shipments to Europe, which affects world price.

At #9, Bob Gorrell takes on the fatuity of Obama’s “green energy” pipe dreams. Focus on “green energy,” as opposed to utilizing the U.S.’s own energy supply, has its own effects…

At #8, Michael Ramirez (energy policy is a frequent topic for him) relates the “green energy” focus to the rise in prices.

At #7, Henry Payne takes note of Michelle Obama’s predilection for frivolous personal-use 747 jet travel. While, admittedly, the First Lady’s extravagance probably has minimal impact on overall gasoline prices, it’s a very amusing cartoon.

At #6, Gary Varvel notes the relationship between gasoline prices and the overall U.S. economy.

At #5, Jerry Holbert notes the impact that high gas prices could have on the November Presidential election.

At #4, Michael Ramirez uses a quote by Energy Secretary Steven Chu to mock those who would have a “European-style” energy policy.

At #3, Michael Ramirez (last one for him) takes Barack Obama to task for feigning ignorance of the relationship between his own policies and high gasoline prices.

At #2, Lisa Benson connects gas prices to the state of dependency Obama/Democrat policies seem to be, for calculated reasons, encouraging within the American populace.

Finally, at #1, Glenn Foden notes the likelihood that, in responding to high gasoline prices, Barack Obama will try – of course – to blame former President George W. Bush.
