When it comes to wondering just what may set a person to do something totally off-the-wall and insane, it's probably a good idea to check out what their job is. TIME revealed a study on March 21, 2014, that listed the top 10 professions that lead to the most psychopaths and then threw in the top 10 professions with the fewest as well.
First, let's see what constitutes a psychopath because it isn't just deranged killers. There are other versions of psychopaths that don't kill people, but also don't bring forth the behaviors that one might consider to be "normal."
Psychopathy can be characterized as:
"...shallow emotions (in particular reduced fear), stress tolerance, lacking empathy, coldheartedness, lacking guilt, egocentricity, superficial character, manipulativeness, irresponsibility, impulsivity and antisocial behaviors such as parasitic lifestyle and criminality."
Believe it or not, the boss doesn't always have it best. CEO tops the list of the profession with the most psychopaths.
- Media (Radio and TV)
- Police Officer
- Civil Servant
It is said that these 10 professions are known to have the most psychopaths come from them, and it is mostly due to having positions of power. With these positions, people are also able to make clinical and objective decisions which are void of feelings.
On the other hand, some professions require human connections and deal with a lot of feelings while being almost void of power. That is why the following 10 professions have developed the least amount of psychopaths because they just wouldn't be good at them.
- Care Aide
- Charity Worker
- Creative Artist
Might make you think twice about who is in your group of friends.
