Here we are in early September and the chill has reached us in the northeast: by the end of the month the leaves will be frost bitten in Maine and New Hampshire and Massachusetts, but the Lombardi Trophy looks to be heading West this year where seasons don't change on our calendar. The three best teams to win Super Bowl XLVIII--as judged by odds makers--reside in the West. The last frontier of America has the three best teams: it has been posited by odds makers. Do you think so?
Lombardi Trophy in 2014 is heading West
Odds makers established the top five teams as Denver, San Francisco, Seattle, New England and Green Bay in that order. I picked Seattle to win but Denver is terrific: Peyton Manning threw seven touchdown passes in last night's opening night blowout victory over the Baltimore Ravens. The second five--six through ten--are Atlanta, Houston, New Orleans, Washington and Dallas.
Some analysts think Houston is looking very strong this year having benefited from gaining some skill players on offense and regaining strength on defense with previously injured players returning. I looked at Seattle with their strong defense and dynamic offense and picked them: Seattle is a small market team so, maybe, observers overlooked them in their rainy and distant corner of America.
