Top 10 Horror films of 2010 devils zombies and centipedes

This hasn't exactly been a bumper year for horror films, or for major motion pictures for that matter.

However, I have managed to find ten little gems amongst the just so-so films to fill my list.

Check the list below and leave your own picks in the comments below.

10. Daybreakers: This film isn't sure if it's a vampire film or a zombie film. There are creatures in it that are vampire/zombies.

9. 30 Days of Night: Dark Days: Not nearly as good as the first film (are they ever?), but still a pretty good film. (Direct To Video)

8. The Last Exorcism: A nice, creepy little film.

7. Dark House (Fangoria): A touch of the 'House On Haunted Hill' remake and a touch of real evil. A great horror flick. (Direct to Video)

6. Lake Mungo (Horrorfest): Part 'Blair Witch' and part 'Paranormal Activity', this Australian film is awesome. An American version is in the making. (Direct to Video).

5. Zombies of Mass Destruction (Horrorfest): A zomedy worthy of this list. (Direct to Video)

4. Devil: A tight storyline of evil in a high rise elevator.

3. The Crazies: This is a re-make of the George A. Romero film. Enjoyable and scary are two words that I would use to describe this film.

2. Paranormal Activity 2: This film is a prequel AND a sequel that works very well. Last year's 'Paranormal Activity' was my number one film of the year..(not just horror). I loved this second part and I'm looking forward to the third.

1. The Human Centipede: This list is called top HORROR movies. There was no other film this year that even came close to the horror of 'The Human Centipede'. THC is disgusting, ugly, horrible, horrifying and so hard to watch it's become a badge of honor to say 'I lived through 'The Human Centipede'. I loved this film even though it took me over two weeks to work my way up to watching it for review. The acting, the effects (low tech yucky!) and the story all combine to make this the horror film of the year in my list. (Direct to Video).

Note the absence of remakes of certain slasher and other horror type films from this list. Also notice that several of these films were direct to video releases. Don't be just assume a film is bad because it went direct to video. Often these films are absolute gems

Most of these films are readily available in such Las Vegas stores as Wal-Mart, Zia or Record City.

Human Centipede deserves the top spot. It was really disturbing. Lake Mungo was also great in an understated but frightening way. Great list!
