Welcome to your survival guide and tips to enjoy your holiday.
Many of us have found ways to to work through this busy season more peacefully and efficiently. Please do share your own tips and ideas in the comment section below.
- Make your menu list and check it twice.
- Remember most major grocery stores are still open until 6:oo pm if you forget or burn something.
- Quit trying to be perfect. The perfect holiday only exists on tv or in books. Just have fun with who and what you have with you right now.
- Do your best and laugh off anything that doesn’t go right.
- Be open to extend last minute dinner invitations. If you think of someone who may be alone during the holiday a last minute “Hey what are you doing today” is better than simply being forgotten.
- Welcome help into your kitchen. You don’t need to do it all alone and allowing others to participate gives them a sense of belonging through participation.
- Tell jokes often. The cornier, the better. Keep them laughing and everyone will gladly overlook your imperfections.
- Remember we are not celebrating stress, we are celebrating being together.
- Count your blessings. If you are stressing about how much you have to do that means you have been giving much to work with, and good people to work for.
- Do one thing at a time. Remind yourself that the only thing you need to do is what you are doing right now, and that this is what you have chosen to do.
Happy Holidays!
