Animal products, both meat and by-products are the best sources of complete protein.  Complete proteins are those that contain the eight essential amino acids that are bodies cannot produce.

Protiens are the building blocks of our body.  We must consume adequate amounts in order to function properly.  The RDA (recommended daily allowance) is between 0.8 g per kg and 1.7 g per kilogram depending on activity level.  The more active we are the more protein our body requires.

Just wondering why these foods qualify as "top 10"? There are many other foods that contain complete protein, have less fat and no hormones or mercury contamination.

They contain the highest protein concentration per serving, thus are the "top 10 high protein foods". If they are eaten organic or natural they do not contain hormones, contain a heart healthy ratio of unsaturated fats, and do not contain any mercury. "Less fat" isn't always the best solution, unless it is saturated or trans fats. Our bodies must get omega-3 and omega-6 fats from the diet in order for proper functioning. The best source of these is animal meats and fish, if once again organic, grass-fed, or natural meat is chosen. I would highly recommend against consuming meats that are not organic, natural, or grass-fed becuase of the poor healthy fat ratio, hormones, and other contaminants.
