Food with Benefits (SM) is one of the 10 trends recognized by The Food Channel. Considering what “friends with benefits” means the category title got me a little curious. Others are cleverly titled like Food Vetting and I Want My Umami.
I think I concur with this list no matter how cutesy the titles. We are definitely seeing the gluten free products, whole grain cereals, as the number of people with celiac disease (gluten intolerance) and other food allergies has grown. Restaurateurs will tell you that people are still going out to eat but the trends have people sharing dishes more than ever before.
