Now Lazaro Arbos joins an illustrious group of Tampa Bay “American Idol” finalists. He’s a part of the season 12 finalists on the upcoming Idol summer tour. Thursday night was an extended results show on FOX lasting 90-minutes. Tampa Bay viewers subscribing to Bright House Networks watched it on WTVT, channel 14. Ryan Seacrest systematically announced the five guys during the first 45-minutes, the remaining half it was the five ladies. It was no surprise Lazaro made it as a finalist. He’s received a great deal of national media attention since his audition during the premiere week back in January.
The results show started off with Ryan going into the holding room with all of the 10 semifinalists. First one to be called out by the host was Paul Jolley, followed by Burnell Taylor, Curtis Finch Jr., Devin Velez, and last but never least, Lazaro Arbos. As they were lead out to the soundstage, the stage door opened to an enthusiastic crowd at The Mirage in Las Vegas. Each one sang a song of their choice. Lazaro chose the Simon & Garfunkel hit “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” During the semifinals Wednesday night he gave an impressive performance of Michael Buble’s “Feeling Good.” This helped him to get into the finals. Next week season 12 begins with their weekly themes until the finale in May.
