Top 10 Fall Cocktails for Girls' Night Out, plus movies to match

Before you get all caught up in the holiday season - which officially begins on Halloween, oh by the way - why not plan a Pre-Holiday Girl's Night Out party? If you need an 'Official' reason you can call it a Pre-Season De-Stressing Party. But it's almost 100% guaranteed that the guys won't like these Top 10 Fall Favorites Cocktails so call it whatever you have to to pull it together, just don't call the boys!

And just in case you decide to make it an all night slumber party, you'll find movies to match each cocktail.  Now where are my jammies....?

Pumpkin Martini

  • 1 ½ oz. Vodka
  • ½ oz. Hiram Walker Pumpkin Spice Liqueur

Combine ingredients in cocktail shaker with ice, shake well, and strain into martini glass. Garnish with a cinnamon stick.

Drink Pumpkin Martinis while you watch - Halloween.  (Yeah, but she carves a pumpkin... and there has to be at least one scary movie in the mix!)

Pumpkin Margarita

  • 2 oz. Tequila
  • 1 ½ oz. Pumpkin Smash
  • ½ oz. Triple Sec
  • 2 cups ice

Combine all ingredients in blender and blend until smooth. Pour into margarita glass and garnish with cinnamon stick.

Drink Pumpkin Margaritas while you watch - Cocktail.  It's a chick flic, OK?

Autumn Delight

  • 2 oz. Irish whiskey
  • 6 oz. Apple cider

Combine ingredients in cocktail shaker filled with ice, shake well, and strain into an old-fashion glass filled with ice. Garnish with apple slices and a cinnamon stick.

Drink Autumn Delight while you watch - Steel Magnolias.  Because it shows all the season and the critical scene happens in the Fall.

Chocolate Martini

  • 1 1/2 oz. Godiva Chocolate Liqueur
  • 1 1/2 oz. Crème de cacao
  • 1/2 oz. Vodka
  • 2 ½ iz. Half-n-half
  • Hershey's chocolate syrup

Drizzle chocolate syrup around the inside of the martini glass. Combine ingredients in cocktail shaker filled with ice, shake well and strain into martini glass.

Drink Chocolate Martinis while you watch - Chocolat.  Just because it has Johnny Depp - isn't that reason enough?

Caramel Apple Martini

  • 2 parts Butterscotch schnapps
  • 2 parts Sour Apple Pucker
  • 1 part vodka

Combine all ingredients in cocktail shaker with ice, shake well to chill, strain into martini glass.

Drink Caramel Apple Martinis while you watch - Julie and Julia.  Julia Child probably had a killer caramel apple recipe!

Mexican Apple Cider Cocktail

  • ¼ oz. Lemon juice
  • 1 ¼ oz. Tequila
  • 1 ½ oz. Apple cider
  • ¼ oz. Crème de Cassis

Combine all ingredients in cocktail shaker with ice, shake well to chill, strain into martini glass. Garnish with thinly sliced apple wedges.

Drink Mexican Apple Cider Cocktails while you watch - Fools Rush In

Hot Spiced Cider

  • 1 gallon apple cider
  • 8 cinnamon sticks
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon allspice
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest

Combine all ingredients in large sauce pot. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer over low heat for 15 minutes. Strain. Serve in mug with 1 ounce of rum or whiskey. Garnish with cinnamon sticks.

Spiced Peach Cobbler

  • 3 oz. Peach vodka
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • 2 splashes Vanilla soy milk
  • 2 dashes ground cinnamon

Combine all ingredients in ice filled cocktail shaker and shake until frothy. Strain into cocktail glass and sprinkle with cinnamon.

Drink Spiced Peach Cobbler while you watch - Sweet Home Alabama.  Southern belle?  Georgia Peach? 

Pumpkin Ale Float

  • 3 scoops Vanilla ice cream
  • 3 oz. Dogfish Head Pumpkin Ale

Pour ale into tall beer glass. Float the ice cream over the beer. Garnish with whipped cream, chocolate syrup and a cherry.

Drink Pumpkin Ale Floats while you watch - St. Elmo's Fire.  Just because it takes place in a college bar and you just know they're drinking draft beers.

Apple Cobbler

  • 1 ½ oz. Maker's Mark Bourbon
  • ½ oz. Apple schnapps
  • apple cider
  • Ginger ale

Mix the bourbon and schnapps in a tall glass filled with ice. Fill with apple cider and top off with a splash of ginger ale. Garnish with thin apple slices.

Drink Apple Cobblers while you watch - Hope Floats.  You can't get anymore down home than apple cobbler.
