Celebrities are using their fame to raise money for worthy causes all the time. This is a list ranking the top 10 celebrities and the charities that they support. Will it be Angelina Jolie who ranked #1 on the Forbes Celebrity 100 list, will it be Barack Obama the President of the United States or will it be Annie Lennox, George Clooney or Bono? #10 John Legend- Grammy-Award winning singer John Legend takes the number ten spot on the list which although is at the bottom of this top 10 is still a great achievement considering that there are thousands of celebrities. Mr. Legend supports charities such as Global Fund, LIFEbeat, Second Harvest, Malaria No More, Peace One Day and Live Earth.
#9 George Clooney- This celebrity stud has done numerous charity works for a variety of causes including stomping out hunger, finding cures for AIDS, cancer and other health problems. He also supports causes that fight for the rights of refugees, women and peace. Mr. Clooney has donated money and is a member of the board of trustees for United Way. Other charities George Clooney supports include CARE, Ante up for Africa, Rock for Darfur and many others.
#8 Sir Elton John- Elton has been a long time supporter of the fight against HIV/AIDS and started the Elton John AIDS Foundation in 1992 with 2 branches, one in the US and one in the UK. Combined the two branches of EJAF have raised over $150 Million in support of projects in over 55 countries around the world. Elton John also supports MusiCares, Move for AIDS, Kids, War Child and many other worthy charities.

#6 Brad Pitt- Heartthrob and star of movies like Legend of the Falls, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Meet Joe Black this celebrity hunk donates to numerous charities along with his wife Angelina Jolie. In 2006, the couple together donated over $8 million dollars to various charities worldwide. Brad Pitt supports causes such as adoption, fostering, human rights, organ donation, weapons reduction and much more. He has worked to rebuild home in the New Orleans area after the devastation of hurricane Katrina and donates to ONE Campaign, Cure Autism Now, Mineseeker Foundation and the Boys' and Girls' Clubs of Canada.
#5 Bono- Music celebrity and icon Bono of U2 makes the list at number five. This music god has raised money to fight poverty, gets involved in musical projects like Live Aid and Band Aid and gets in direct contact with world leaders to urge them to make the world a better place. A few of the charities you may see him supporting include Mencap, DATA, Live 8, Witness, Zero Hunger or (RED).
#4 Bill Clinton- Former, controversial president of the United States Bill Clinton is one of the top celebrity charity supporters. He started The Clinton Foundation Climate Change Initiative, the William J. Clinton Foundation and the Clinton Global Initiative which support everything from environmental causes to health issues including HIV/AIDS and Cancer.
#3 President Barack Obama- The current president of the United States comes in at the number three spot on our top celebrity charity list. Obama netted over $7,000 for a doodle at auction to benefit to Neurofibromatosis, Inc. who seek a cure for neurofibromatosis. He has also spoken at functions for K.I.D.S., a charity that supports disadvantaged children and C.A.R.E., a group dedicated to tackling the poverty problem and aiding women and children in war torn countries.
#2 Annie Lennox- Pop diva and British music star, Annie Lennox takes the number two slot with ease for her incredible charity work. She dedicates most of her time to raising money and awareness about the AIDS pandemic in Africa but also works with Amnesty International, the British Red Cross, Greenpeace and Nelson Mandela's 46664 Foundation. She recieved the British Services to Humanity Award in 2008 for her ongoing efforts in the fight to raise awareness about AIDS.
And the number one spot goes to the woman who booted Oprah out of the Forbes Celebrity 100 list...
#1 Angelina Jolie- Actress, mother and Goodwill Ambassador for the UN Refugee Agency, Angelina Jolie is almost always doing something for charity. She has adopted children from third world countries, supports the rights of women, kids and the right for everyone to be at peace. Angelina and her husband, Brad Pitt, organized the Jolie- Pitt Foundation which was launched in 2006 to assist in humanitarian crises around the world. When the foundation launched Pitt and Jolie donated $1 million dollars to both Doctors without Borders and Global Action for Children.
