Tools Of Seduction: The Two Physical Features That Make Or Break Attraction

When it comes to transitioning from the early stages of dating to solidifying a new relationship, chemistry is key. While your overall image matters tremendously, there are a couple important features that almost always make or break romantic attraction. Nine times out of ten, both men and women mention nice eyes and a beautiful smile as their biggest turn-ons.In NYC, we make snap decisions. It only takes a few seconds to decide whether or not we are attracted to someone romantically. (Hence the popularity of speed dates with companies like NY Easy Dates here in the big Apple!)

Can you guess the two winning features that combine to seduce the new relationship prospect time and time again?

While eyes are the window to the soul, the smile is the (potential) invitation to the kiss! Science has taken us a long way, and much can be done to improve the appearance of our eyes and smiles from eye lifts and eyelash extensions to teeth whitening and lip plumpers. (Not to mention color contacts, Botox, and anything at Sephora!)

Clearly, singles hoping to spark some romantic desire should be proactive about playing up these two features. It’s hard for most people to pick which is more important than the next and easier for more people to change their smile as opposed to their eyes. (Unless, of course, men wearing eyeliner goes mainstream!) However, I doubt many singles would approach even the most beautiful pair of eyes if they went along with a mouthful of crooked, yellow teeth that made the stereotypical British smile look good!

So, yes, the recipe for beauty and sex appeal starts with a gorgeous smile. Certainly Michael Krochak, one of Manhattan’s best cosmetic entists, would agree! He regards a beautiful smile as “the first and most primal form of communication to another human being.” Is your smile saying what you want it to? Michael states that “a confident smile empowers you to attract others and dares them to look at you.” No matter what type of makeup you wear,” he adds, “you can only hide so much behind closed lips.”

Yet, we can’t underestimate the fact that a little product on the lips can make a world of difference. To complement those pearly whites, both men and women should strive for smooth, unchapped lips. (And it’s not just the teeth and hair that are meant to be brushed. Brushing the lips can help remove dead skin cells and allow your lips to attract the attention they deserve!)

Women can use lipstick or gloss to create a smile that is anywhere from sultry to sweet. NYC-based celebrity makeup artist, Julia Dalton-Brush, always advises her clients to pay attention to what colors go with their skin tone, especially when attempting to pull off dramatic hues like the deep bordeaux wine colored lips (a.k.a the “It” color this season).

Although normally held for Winter months, these colors, which were all over Paris's Spring 2011 Fashion Week, will be worn everywhere this Spring. (So you might as well learn how to work them now!) As Julia suggests, the ladies may want to go matte for a low key lunch date or casual meet-up for drinks. But what’s her advice to sexify things up for girl’s night out? A thin gloss with very light pigment over the lipstick. (Yes, your lip gloss is poppin! Your lip gloss is poppin!)

Make sure your eyes and smile are looking as best as they can, and be confident that you've just increased your "It" factor! If you've got it flaunt it! They'll notice!
