It's been many long days and nights since we've seen or heard a new album from Tool. There have been conflicting press statements, official and non-official, from one band member saying no new albums will drop, to others saying that we would see one this year. This year being each and every year since 2006. 2013 is the year that we're going to see it! Well....remember the kind of in the title? It's not a new album per se, but a re-release of a classic favorite.
Tool first came to us in 1992 with "Opiate". It's with this album that they chose to come back. It'll be known as the "Opiate" EP anniversary edition, there won't be a single new song, but artwork by Adi Granov, better known for his work with Marvel comics, will be contributed. Well known album cover designer Mackie Osborne created a new design package with a new stereoscopic image on front. Osborne is known for her work on countless "Melvin's" album covers, as well as her work on both the "Lateralus" and "10,000 Days" album covers.
Are you excited yet? You should be, because it's Tool! We all love Tool, right? Well then, you'd better hurry because, the band is making only 5,000 copies of the Opiate EP anniversary edition. Now for the unfortunate news. Beginning March 26th, the only place this anniversary edition will be available, is on the band’s official website. A link is available here: http://www.toolband.com/
When March 26th arrives, be at the ready, and click on the link above! Good luck Tool fans!
