Tonya Evinger says she could 'kick Raquel Pennington's a** in anything'

According to a Dec. 5 post from U.S. Combat Sports, Invicta FC star Tonya Evinger isn't interested in avenging her loss to UFC star Raquel Pennington.

Evinger, 32, seems to believe she could easily handle Pennington on any given day, but that she simply didn't rise to the occasion when it counted most.

She just happened to get caught by a flukey submission as time wound down in the second frame of their fight to get into the TUF 18 house.

“I could give a sh*t about avenging that fight," Evinger said of her bout with Pennington. "I could kick her a*s in anything. But yeah it pisses me off that I didn’t make the show. I want to get paid. I could have won.”

In the elimination fight to get into the house, Evinger faced Pennington and lost via guillotine choke submission in the second round.

Up to that point, Evinger had been controlling the action and arguably winning the fight. If Evinger did beat Pennington, the entire landscape of the TUF 18 house would have been dramatically different.

Pennington, who banked $25,000 for her "Fight of the Season" performance against Jessamyn Duke, would go on to advance to the semifinal round, where she fell short against Jessica Rakoczy.

Evinger, on the other hand, hasn't entered the cage since her TUF 18 elimination fight.

The UFC also granted Pennington a fight on the TUF 18 Finale card, and she delivered with a victory over Roxanne Modafferi.

Pennington's win at the TUF Finale basically guarantees her the opportunity for more fights under the UFC banner, where she could earn fat paychecks and become a huge star.

The Missouri striker isn't bitter about losing to Pennington, but she says she's a bit embarrassed that she didn't make the TUF 18 house.

“I feel really embarrassed. I could have won," Evinger said. "Juliana (Pena) came from nothing and won the Ultimate Fighter. She had like no wins before that show. Same with Jessica Rakoczy. She was a boxer. I’m glad for them. More props to them, but who gets off a win with a f*cking school girl headlock? Pressure comes down and sometimes we don’t perform and that happened to me. I’m embarrassed. Props to them for it but I’m gonna kick their as*es.”

Evinger's road back to UFC contention starts on Dec. 7, where she battles Sarah D'Alelio in a preliminary bout on the Invicta FC 7 card.
