Tony Parker scored 23 points and dished out five assists in San Antonio Spurs 109-103 victory over the Dallas Mavericks in Game five of their first round series on April 30. Parker and his fiancée, Axelle Francine, welcomed their first child early Wednesday morning.
The San Antonio Express-News reported the couple welcomed a baby boy, Josh, came hours before Game five.
Parker, who got no sleep Tuesday night, got off to a hot start as he made five of his first seven shots. He converted three driving layups and two mid-range jumpers to help the Spurs take a 58-49 halftime advantage.
In the second half, Parker scored 13 points including a 25-foot three-pointer to stretch the Spurs lead from four to seven (101-94) with 1:52 remaining. The 13 points in the last half was one fewer than he totaled in the second half of the first four games of the series.
Manu Ginobili had 19 points and Tiago Splitter added 17 points and 12 rebounds as San Antonio takes a 3-2 series lead heading into Game six on May 2. Tim Duncan added 16 points and 12 rebounds Kawhi Leonard contributed 15 points.
Vince Carter led the way for the Mavericks with 28 points on 10-for-16 shooting.
