A multitude of sources indicated Erin Barry, wife of the former Spur Brent Barry, as the person Parker has been texting back and forth for almost a year with “inappropriate texts.”
This morning Longoria filed for a petition of divorce in Los Angeles after rumors started hitting the airwaves yesterday. Brent Barry apparently filed for divorce in Bexar County a few weeks ago.
Although opinions vary about breakup, it may be too easy to place blame in the Parker-Longoria case.
“The public might be swayed to jump to conclusions, especially after we are so used to headlines about Tiger Woods, Mel Gibson, Sandra Bullock and Kobe Bryant,” a close acquaintance of Erin Berry told this examiner. “But Erin is a very nice lady and I think she might have been overcome with his celebrity status and the allure of his interests in her.”
Brent Barry and Tony Parker were teammates for four years and both call San Antonio home.
The Barry’s moved to the Alamo City in 2004 from his stent with the Chicago Bulls, where Erin was known for a hard working court-appointed advocate for abused and neglected children, working the front line of sometimes heartbreaking efforts.
Born to an unwed teenage mother who kept her baby girl a few days while struggling to give her up for adoption, Erin soon went to live with a San Francisco area couple.
Erin became a loving and oldest sister as her adoptive parents later had several biological children.
The future Mrs. Barry met Brent when she was 16. They attended all girls and all boys Catholic Schools across the street from each other. Their first date was to see the movie “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.”
“I remember looking at him in the theater, and at that moment, Cupid drew back his bow,” Erin told SA Woman magazine years later. “I was 16 years old and I just knew he was the one I wanted to be with. That was it.”
