Tony Lusardi, III lost his girlfriend, Lauren Rousseau during the heartbreaking mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT this past December. He is still struggling to get through each day without her.
Lusardi said that it was Rousseau’s smile that he first noticed on a dating website. Lusardi went on to say that he sent her a “jokey” message to which she replied, “ha-ha-ha” and one short month later, the couple had their first date.
Lusardi, 30 is a sales representative for a tech company. He shared the details of their first date.
“We hit it off right off the bat. I am a giant, awkward nerd when I first meet people, but at one point I said, ‘Can I kiss you?’ She said Yes.”
Their first kiss was very telling according to Tony. He said that when their lips met, “I knew she was perfect for me. I thought, She’s the one.”
Five weeks after their first date, the updated their Facebook relationship status to say they we “in a relationship.” Thirteen months later, they were talking about moving in together.
On the fateful morning of December 14, 2012, Lauren Rousseau was subbing in the first-grade classroom that was Adam Lantz’s first stop at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
Lauren’s mother, Teresa Rousseau commented on her daughter’s thoughts as she went to school that day. “Lauren was so excited because she had her own classroom that day. I was told she was the first one killed in that classroom.”
“I wake up every day immediately knowing I’m in a very sad Lauren-less place.”
Tony Lusardi said that he cried himself to sleep for many nights. He said for him, “everything completely stopped for a solid two and a half weeks.”
