Tony Kushner, screenplay writer of "Lincoln," has won the Best Adapted Screenplay Award at the 18th annual Critics' Choice Awards at Barker Hangar on Jan. 10 in Santa Monica, Calif. The awards show was hosted by Sam Rubin and was broadcast on the CW Network. This is the first Critics' Choice Award win and nomination for Tony Kushner.
Tony Kushner is also nominated for a Golden Globe Award and an Academy Award for writing the screenplay of "Lincoln." The Golden Globes will be handed out this Sunday and the Academy Awards will be presented on the last Sunday in February.
In "Lincoln," as the Civil War continues to rage, America's president struggles with continuing carnage on the battlefield and as he fights with many inside his own cabinet on the decision to emancipate the slaves. The film stars Daniel Day-Lewis, Sally Field, Tommy Lee Jones, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and David Strathairn.
