The International Association of Skateboard Companies (IASC) and Skatelab, home of Skateboarding Hall of Fame, are joining forces on an official inaugural induction event to honor four of the most iconic names in the history of the sport: Tony Hawk, Danny Way, Tony Alva and Bruce Logan.
"Skateboarding has grown up, and not in a bad way - we can look back and be proud of the history of our sport,"
said John Bernards, executive director of IASC.
"Taking the opportunity to acknowledge and honor the individuals who have so greatly influenced and shaped the industry allows us to look forward to the future of skateboarding without ever forgetting our roots and everything it took to get where we are today.”
The invitation-only celebration will happen this October 24 at the Vans Skatepark in Orange, CA, with live musical performance and auctions of a large selection of skate memorabilia. The proceeds will benefit the Go Skateboarding Foundation.

Skating in the Olympics
Thousands of people flock around their televisions to watch the Olympics. From running, to swimming and diving, the Olympics have a history of holding competitions for all kinds of events. It may seem that the Olympics uses all the sports, but think again here, “do they really?”
Over time the way we hold this tradition has changed in some ways. So it seems it always gets better, but they continue to forget a growing sport. “What sport?” you may ask. Skateboarding of course! From vert to street skating this is a growing sport, it has the players and followers from all around the globe. Skating is in our TV, clothes, music, and the occasional cereal box cover. So why is it we don’t see it in the Olympics?
The Olympics is about athletes who practice, play hard, and physically push the limits to take home the gold. Skateboarders train all the time, it becomes more than just a sport for some, it becomes a lifestyle. Every serious skateboarder is a athlete, and where there is athletes there is a sport. So why is it that a world competition holding a variety of sports is forgetting this one?
So what is your opinion on this issue?
