Tony Gonzalez trade rumors still suggest a lot of interest in the Atlanta Falcons tight end. Whether a Gonzalez trade will actually take place is another question entirely. According to a report from early Tuesday (Oct. 29), the Pro Bowl player at least understands why the buzz won't go away. Fans from other teams cannot help but wonder what their team could look like with the addition of a really good tight end in situations like this one.
The Falcons have slipped to 2-5 and don't look capable of surviving without Roddy White and Julio Jones this season. Still, he isn't asking to be dealt and was quoted as stating, "I love my guys on this team too much to go ask for a trade. It would be something that would come from them where they said, 'Hey, it makes sense because we could get something good for you and send you to a team that's a contender.' So I understand the thought process behind that."
On the season he has 38 catches for 395 yards and three touchdowns, showing that he is still putting up decent numbers at the age of 37. This is why it is no surprise that Tony Gonzalez trade rumors won't subside. On Tuesday the NFL deadline to make a deal hits, so time is running out for the Atlanta Falcons to deal him for younger assets. After that, it just becomes a march to the top of the 2014 NFL Draft and hopes for next season.
Will the team actually pull the trigger on a deal? It looks pretty unlikely, but it would make too much sense not to at least consider one. In regard to fantasy football, he would still put up the numbers no matter what team he plays for to wrap up his career.
