Earlier I reported a Tony Gonzalez comeback may be in order. Well its official. According to D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Gonzalez will be back for a final campaign of his storied career.
Gonzalez signed a two-year contact worth $14 million. It includes a $3.5 million signing bonus and a base salary of $3.5 million.
If Gonzalez does decide to play in 2014, the falcons will already have him under contract.
Still a top tier tight end in the NFL, Gonzalez was welcomed back with open arms to server as a security blanket for Matt Ryan for at least one more year. He will be looking to make one last run towards the one thing he hasn't gotten in his record breaking career, and that would be an NFL Championship.
There was no mention whether or not Gonzalez's request to skip off-season workouts was honored or not. More details of the agreement will start to emerge as the days go by.
