Based on a posted message of Tony Calvento on his official Facebook page, Judge Paz Esperanza Cortez of the Taguig Regional Trial Court Branch 271 is still examining the motion for transfer filed by Cedric Lee, Zimmer Raz and Deniece Cornejo, three of the eight accused in the serious illegal detention case filed by actor-TV host Vhong Navarro. Until today, June 16, 2014, the three accused are still in the custody of the NBI and CIDG/ATCU after their arrest in the town of Oras, Eastern Samar several months ago.
Their co-accused, Jed Fernandez, JP Calma, Ferdinand Guerrero and the others involved in the mauling of actor-TV host Vhong Navarro are still at large despite the manhunt operation launched by the NBI and PNP. Going back to Tony Calvento’s Facebook post regarding the progress of the case and transfer of the accused to the Taguig City Jail, some observers said Judge Cortez should expedite the issuance of judgment for defendants because she has already inspected the city jail last month.
It is a given fact that a lot of people are waiting for the three accused to be transferred to the city jail, but based on the circumstances, Cedric Lee, Zimmer Raz and Deniece Cornejo will remain in the custody of the National Bureau of Investigation and CIDG/ATCU in Quezon City because the lady judge is still not issuing orders. Meanwhile, Deniece Cornejo became the talk of the town two weeks ago when she celebrated her 23rd birthday inside the CIDG/ATCU detention cell with friends, relatives and Roxanne Cabanero.
Reports said they exchanged opinions regarding their rape cases filed against Vhong Navarro while in jail. Deniece’s rape complaint has already been dismissed by the DOJ while Roxanne Cabanero is still waiting for the resolution of her case. According to Tony Calvento, the resolution of the rape complaint filed by Roxanne will be released by the DOJ before July 18.
