At around 4 p.m. today, May 5, 2014 (Philippine time) or 12:02 a.m May 5, 2014 (U.S. time) TV and print ad model Deniece Cornejo, one of the five accused in the serious illegal detention case filed by actor-TV host Vhong Navarro, decided to surrender to PNP Chief Alan Purisima. The report was confirmed by Saleema Refran, one of the ace reporters of GMA-7, rival network of ABS-CBN, during the live broadcast of "Balita Pilipinas Ngayon" anchored by Maki Pulido and Mark Salazar.
According to Saleema, Deniece was accompanied by her relatives and friends. Meanwhile, aside from Saleema Refran, Tony Calvento, avid supporter of actor-TV host Vhong Navarro, also confirmed that Deniece is now in the hands of the PNP Chief and will be detained in the PNP custodial center. Tony revealed that Deniece was the person being pursued by the NBI the last two days, according to him, the TV and print ad model was not in Boracay Island with some friends before she decided to come out and surrendered herself to the authorities contrary to some observers claim.
After hearing the report, some netizens especially the fans and supporters of Vhong Navarro took to their social media accounts and expressed their happiness for Deniece's submission. According to them, she did the right thing because the authorities are dedicated to serve the warrant of arrest issued by Judge Paz Esperanza Cortez of the Taguig Regional Trial Court Branch 271.
And now that the three of them (Deniece Cornejo, Cedric Lee and Zimmer Raz) are already in the hands of the PNP and the NBI, some observers are claiming that Ferdinand Guerrero and Jed Fernandez will soon be arrested if they will continue to hide. Incidentally, Deniece Cornejo is expected to attend the preliminary hearing of the case at the sala of Judge Paz Cortez of the Taguig Regional Trial Court Branch 271 this coming May 6.
