Tony Bennett turns 85 on Wednesday and fans are lining up to thank him for his talent. My mind is overcome with memories over the years, and focusing on one topic to write is impossible. When thinking of Tony Bennett and wanting to wish him a Happy 85th, where to begin? Is it telling Tony that he has always been 'Tony the Tiger' to many or that his song "Shadow of your Smile" aced me an "A" in chorus during my high school performance (and I have no voice, trust me).
The ultimate favorite song "The Way You Look Tonight" was interwoven into movie backgrounds and even commercials. Tony's most well known song "I left my heart in San Franscisco" prompted countless people to want to visit the magical city. Of all his songs, my favorite is possibly "The Way You Look Tonight", and is included in the video box to the left.
Moments such as Tony inspiring Amercian Idol contestants a few years back and having an impact on Jordin Sparks, which carried over into her win and current success. Jordin sang "On a Clear Day" and the rest is history. Thank you, Mr. Bennett. Tomorrow, Tony will sing a duet with another American Idol winner, Carrie Underwood. Performing the duet on the set of 'Blue Blood' which stars Tom Selleck.
So as everyone celebrates Tony Bennett's Birthday, here is one little fan posting an article that highlights the tributes by other celebrities in the video posted yesterday and sharing a few moments of favorite video's that have brought meaning to our lives. Of course it would be impossible in this format to list all the songs Tony has done, and one wonders if Tony himself has a favorite.
Tony Bennett has touched so many current stars with his music that it is hard to say how life would have been different without the Tony Bennett magic. Just take a look on the official Tony Bennett webpage showcasing his latest album "Duets II", listing many music stars. See how many have been touched by Tony's music. So after all what is left, except - "HAPPY BIRTHDAY TONY !!!! "
