On July 29, American singer-songwriter Lady Gaga released a studio video of her performing "Anything Goes" with Tony Bennett on her VEVO YouTube channel. It is the first single from the pairs upcoming collaborative jazz album, Cheek to Cheek. You can watch Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett in the studio recording "Anything Goes" here.
The video released is not an official music video. Its the studio version of the song being played over footage of Gaga and Bennett in the recording studio. Throughout the video, you see the pair arriving at the studio, listening to the playback from the sound booth, joking around in the studio, and footage of the two singers performing on stage. There's even a short clip of Bennett wiping tears from Gaga's face while she is recording the song.
The album Cheek to Cheek is set to be released on Sept. 23 via Streamline, Columbia, and Interscope Records. According to an issued press release:
'Cheek To Cheek' features classic jazz standards sung by Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett in a combination of vocal duets and solo performances. Each song was handpicked by the artists."
The song "Anything Goes" was written by Cole Porter for his 1934 musical of the same name. Some other songs Lady Gaga and Bennett cover on their upcoming album includes Cher's 1966 single "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)," "Sophisticated Lady," and "It Don't Mean a Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing)". The album will also feature an original song written by Lady Gaga entitled "Paradise".
The pair first met back in 2011 at the Robin Hood Foundation gala in New York City. Together the pair then recorded the song "The Lady is a Tramp" which ended up on Bennett's album Duets II.
