Tony Awards 2014 live stream CBS online free, TV schedule start time and winners

Radio City Music Hall in New York, N.Y. will be the site for the 68th Annual Tony Awards, and according to a NY Times (June 8, 2014) report, tonight marks the fourth time that Hugh Jackman hosts the show. CBS’s scheduled TV coverage and live stream (free online red carpet) start time are both set for 8 p.m. ET (7 p.m. CT/6 p.m. MT/5 p.m. PT) following this week’s presentation of 60 Minutes.

Presented by the American Theatre Wing and The Broadway League, the event will honor production and performances on Broadway theatre during the 2013-14 season. Tonight’s Tony Awards 2014 live musical performers include: Neil Patrick Harris and the cast of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Sutton Foster with the cast of Violet, Alan Cumming and the cast of Cabaret and Idina Menzel from If/Then.

The list of presenters on tonight’s docket is also a who’s who of A-list actors and music performers/producers. Some of the personalities expected to make appearances in this evening’s festivities from the Big Apple are: Bradley Cooper, Kevin Bacon, Matt Bomer, Wayne Brady, Zach Braff, Kenneth Branagh, Patricia Clarkson, , Fran Drescher, Clint Eastwood, Emilio Estefan, Gloria Estefan, Vera Farmiga, Will Ferrell, Tony Goldwyn, Anna Gunn, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Ethan Hawke, Carole King, Zachary Levi, Lucy Liu, Kate Mara, Leighton Meester, Audra McDonald, Alessandro Nivola, Zachary Quinto, Emmy Rossum, and Liev Schreiber.

As reported by the LA Times, the Tony Awards 2014 nominees were announced to the public on April 29, 2014. Some of this year’s categories including: Best Play, Best Musical, Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Play, Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Play, Best Choreography, Best Orchestrations and more.

Leading the way in the multiple nominations category are “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder” (10) and “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” (8). Other notable candidates with multiple nominations include: “After Midnight”, “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical”, “The Glass Menagerie”, “Twelfth Night” with seven, while “Bullets Over Broadway” and “The Cripple of Inishmaan” both got six nods apiece.

Finally, there will also be some non-competitive awards handed out this evening at the 2014 Tony Awards. This includes the “Tony Honor for Excellence in Theatre Education”, a brand new award designed to honor theatre educators – from kindergarten (K-12) through high school.
