Here’s two promising literary events that are being held tonight, direct from the horses’ mouths.
The weather outside may be frightful for SPRING, but the weather IS getting better – and it would be GREAT to see you for an excellent night of poetry and performance art at "the Café Gallery"! Join Janet Kuypers this Wednesday, May 21 2014, at Gallery Cabaret (2020 North Oakley Ave. in Chicago, ~ a block away from Armitage and Western near Milwaukee, with free parking and right by a Blue line el stop) from 7:00 to 9:00 PM for the Virginia Hunt and Roberta Miles double feature and poetry open mike!
This poetry open mike is from 7:00 to 9:00 PM, and we have to be on time, because Gallery Cabaret has events starting after 9 PM, so grab some dinner and come on by! Gallery Cabaret is a bar that does not have a food menu, but they have no problem with patrons bringing food in – they even keep menus of restaurants within the next block or two and local pizza places for anyone wanting to get food to eat at Gallery Cabaret (Gallery Cabaret encourages getting food from their neighbors too)...
Also, there are links for this feature (links are even available at the "2013 schedule" link for this open mic at http://www.chaoticarts.org/thecafe) at the Chicago poetry calendar [dot] org - and if you have facebook, then YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN INVITED to the open mike from the facebook events page; if you're on facebook, go to this event and say you're coming!
At Gallery Cabaret <www.gallerycabaret.com>, they even have cameras wired into the place, and can have a live feed of the back of this venue displaying on a television for the front of the bar, so everyone could see the readers... And we try to video record the entire open mike as well as the feature for youtube and a weekly podcast! So join me at "the Café Gallery" at Gallery Cabaret with side-kick Bob Rashkow - I want all of you to come to this great feature at the poetry open mike WEDNESDAY (May 21st) at 7 PM!
