Tonight's top shows: Slightly Stoopid and 24th Street Wailers

A great week of music in Central Iowa that started off with Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band, Buckwheat Zydeco, and Crosby, Stills, and Nash continues tonight with Slightly Stoopid and The 24th Street Wailers. Here are the details.

Ska punk/reggae rockers Slightly Stoopid will play the Val Air Ballroom tonight at 8 p.m. Slightly Stoopid found success with their seventh studio album Top of the World in 2012. The album debuted at #13 on the Billboard 200 and #3 on the Independent Albums chart. Top of the World would eventually climb to #4 on the Rock and Alternative charts, as well. Tickets for this all ages show are $25. Mariachi El Bronx will open the show.

Toronto rock, blues, and soul band The 24th Street Wailers will perform at the Gas Lamp tonight at 9 p.m. The band started off their year with nominations for "Performer of the Year", "Electric Act of the Year", and "Horn Player of the Year" at the Maple Blues Awards. The band released their new album Wicked last Thursday. The album's first single "Aim to Please" is featured in the nearby video. The Gas Lamp show is 21-and-over only, and there will be a $7 cover at the door.
