Tonight’s Academy Awards billed as bigger and better

The 85th annual Academy Awards this evening will feature a new host, 13 different performances and an all star closing featuring the cast of the Oscar winning film “Chicago.”

And, that’s not all. Seth Mac Farlane will be hosting the Oscars for the first time in an effort to draw in the younger demographic.

Mac Farlane has reportedly consulted with veteran Oscar host Billy Crystal who advised Mac Farlane to "wear comfortable shoes."

Performances by Barbra Streisand and Adele and a James Bond Tribute are among the entertainment slated for the Oscar telecast.

This year’s crop of nine films nominated for Best Picture include the front runners "Lincoln", "Argo" and "Silver Linings Playbook." Critics and movie lovers have been debating the merits of the Big Three, but one never knows until the magic envelope is opened.

The 85th Academy Awards will be broadcast in the U.S. on ABC-TV starting at 8:30pm EST. though the Red Carpet Oscar Pre Show hosted by Robin Roberts starts at 7pm.
