On May 20 Singer Toni Braxton appeared on ‘The View’ and shared the release of her new memoir, Unbreak My Heart: A Memoir. Braxton shared some intimate details about her past including her battle with Lupus and coming to terms with having a son diagnosed with autism.
Braxton opened up to ‘The View’ panel and shared her perspective surrounding the cause of her eldest son having autism. Braxton said she was riddled with guilt because she thought she was being punished because of a past abortion. ‘View’ hosts Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy were able to relate to Braxton’s story as both ladies have sons with autism.
The Grammy award winning singer will give readers a glimpse into her transition from being sheltered and living conservatively as a “preacher’s kid” to becoming an R and B artist. Braxton would sing along with her sisters in her church choir where her father was the pastor until she was discovered at a gas station and began singing professionally.
During the taping of her family’s reality show ‘Braxton Family Values’ Braxton shared moments between her and her writer in which she expressed her fear of sharing to much personal information. She shared her experience with her mother being very strict and even compared her to Joseph Jackson, father of famed Jackson Five. Braxton was concerned with hurting others by sharing her experiences with them.
Fans of the star have been speculating the details surrounding Braxton’s bankruptcy. Braxton was at the height of her career at the time of her bankruptcy and it seemed hard for many to believe that after selling millions of albums the star can still lose it all. Braxton shares the details of her financial woes in her new book.
Braxton and her sisters have a reality show called 'Braxton Family Values' which documents the personal and professional lives of her and her sisters. Braxton has two children with ex-husband and manager Kerry Lewis. Braxton’s book Unbreak My Heart: A Memoir was released on May 20.
